Toggle to desktop
You know that little icon in the Quick Launch menu that toggles you to the Desktop? I somehow accidentally deleted mine (don't ask me how... I seem to have a knack). I use it all the time, and I want it back!
Here's how to re-create it:
Start->Run
Type Notepad in the box and hit Enter
In Notepad, type (or copy and paste) this text:
[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop
File->Save As...
Save the file to the desktop as Show Desktop.scf
There should now be a "Show Desktop" icon on the desktop. I can drag it to the Quick Launch, and I'm back in business!
Alternatives to the Show Desktop icon include:
- Press the Windows logo key+D on your keyboard
- Right-click the Windows taskbar, and then click Show the Desktop
