Here is the content of the Technology Projects Update report that was presented to the Technology Committee on August 14.
Portage County – All 3 branches are on the SCLS network via BCN. A VPN tunnel between SCLS and STP was installed in June. PCs will be re-imaged and go onto the SCLS network in August.
Broadband
- SCLS staff are developing a broadband assessment and plan for each library.
- Planning to bring additional Madison branches onto MUFN is underway. Implementation will depend upon funding availability.
Drupal – The Drupal website for the Ruth Culver Community Library in Prairie du Sac went live. Rose has been working with libraries to test a Drupal module that may meet libraries’ needs for event registration.
E-commerce – An SSL certificate was acquired which was necessary in order for the Envisionware software to be installed. We will be working with Envisionware next to install the software. SCLS ILS staff will then work to configure it and work with LibLime to test SIP and determine if development is required.
Network Convergence – The following libraries have been converged onto the SCLS network since June: [WID, VER ]. A new version of Library Online Print Management was piloted at Verona Public Library in conjunction with the upgrade to Windows 7 on their public PCs. Other libraries using Library Online print management will be scheduled to receive upgrades to Windows 7 on eligible PCs as soon as possible.
Software
- Kaspersky was rolled out the week of July 22 as the new antivirus software (replacing Sophos).
Email Support – We posted documentation so that libraries can use gmail to access their SCLS email. Read the blog post for full details.
Help Desk –The technology and ILS help desks combined into one help desk and a new Help Desk online form launched on June 18.
