In this webinar, Andi Coffin and Stef Morrill from WiLS and Jean Anderson from SCLS will show you how to navigate OverDrive's Marketplace to provide patron support, contact OverDrive for help, and download reports of all kinds.

Digipalooza Highlights, 2013

Digipalooza is taking over Know More this month. Join Jean Anderson, Sara Gold, Bruce Smith, Mary Knapp, and Jeff Gilderson-Duwe as they share what they learned at Digipalooza 2013.

Know More will resume it's regular schedule in September.

Join us for brief, lively programs in which SCLS and area librarians discuss current topics, trends, and, of course, books. These 30-minute programs are designed around the letter E: to educate, energize, engage, enlighten, and excite you. Each month's program will feature a different topic.

SCLS Tech Day Featuring the MacGyver Library & More

Held Friday, September 9 at the Wintergreen Resort in Wisconsin Dells:

MacGyver Library

Ok, so you may not ever have to diffuse a bomb using a roll of microfilm and an electronic eraser. That doesn't mean that there aren't numerous technology gadgets that can save your patrons' day anyway. In this fast-paced and entertaining presentation, Chris and Jon Mark will be showing you how to do everything from running Firefox on an aging iPod to 5 minute YouTube video creation and much more!

Be sure to bring your own gadgets and ideas to the presentation. They'll be time for everyone to examine the gadgets on hand and share tips and tricks from their own libraries.

Hands-on learning and demonstrations including

* Gadgets: Various Nooks, Kindles, Sony e-Readers, ELMO Document Camera, iPads and iPods, and mp3 players on hand for you to play with
* OverDrive Download Station: learn how access OverDrive, download titles and load them onto your device
* Windows 7 Patron Image: Come and play with the new Windows 7 Patron image including these new features: Photo and video editing, scanning documents and photos, and disk burning
* Enterprise Wireless: find out how the new enterprise wireless system will be able to streamline your wireless needs with monthly reports, reliable service, and remote support.

WPLC Statewide Buying Pool Information Session

Digital materials are being downloaded in almost unimaginable quantities, and resources available through the public library are no exception. The Wisconsin Public Library Consortium (WPLC) is exploring the feasibility of a Statewide Digital Media Buying Pool. This webinar to further explore the options available to member libraries, and the potential costs. The presenters for this online workshop (open only to SCLS member public libraries) are Molly Warren and Martha Van Pelt. Explanation of numbers on Slide 2:

  • SCLS contracted with OverDrive in 2005. The service started with audiobooks.
  • In 2009, ebooks were added to the collection.
  • 200 is the approximate number of items in both audiobook and ebook initial collections.
  • 12,587 is the number of total items in the collection as of December 31, 2011.
  • 16,115 is the total number of items in the collection as of  July 31, 2011.
  • 34,000 is the number of public domain ebooks available through OverDrive.
  • 46.7 % is the increase in SCLS OverDrive usage from January-June 2010 to January-June 2011.
  • 61% is the increase only for January of 2010 comparing to January of 2011.
  • 55,990 is the number of SCLS checkouts for all of 2010.
  • 54,846 is the number of SCLS checkouts for January - August of 2011!

Advanced OverDrive Training
