A lot of fun and learning took place at the Wintergreen on February 19. We learned science in the morning and played with coding in the afternoon.
The Physics of Plasma with Mike Randall
Plasma is the source of the majority of energy on earth. About 99.9 percent of the observable Universe is made up of plasma. But what IS plasma?
Learn how to teach your students about plasma, using hands-on, engaging activities and fascinating facts. Questions addressed in the workshop include: What is plasma? Where do we find it? How is it made? How do we use it? What can we learn from it?
We will explore how physicists study plasma in the laboratory, and how astronomers study extraterrestrial plasma. Activities include: states of matter; overview of current plasma physics research; plasma ball lab; basic stellar evolution; fusion cookie lab; paraffin wax photometers; calculating the energy source of the sun; identifying elements using spectrometry, and more!

Dream Big: Learn Code
Learn about the importance of code literacy and the valuable skills it teaches, as well as how to talk about the value of coding to your boss, your stakeholders, and your community! We will also show you many ways to bring coding programs into your libraries and communities with the resources that WisCode Literati offers, and have the opportunity for hands-on learning, testing, playing, and collaboration with your colleagues.
