Brodhead Memorial Public Library Seeks Full Time Director
The Brodhead Memorial Public Library Board of Trustees seeks to hire a dynamic, community-minded Library Director. We are looking for an optimistic and empathetic leader, who excels in communicating and building relationships with individuals and groups. The ideal candidate will commit to providing equitable services; supervise, inspire, and evaluate staff; and connect with the community as a whole.
Education and Experience
Successful candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, interest in current library technology, fiscal knowledge, and the ability to work efficiently and effectively with the Library Board, staff, and community.
- An undergraduate degree from a college or university is required; a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science is preferred
- At least Grade II Wisconsin Library Director Certification, or ability to obtain, is required
- Progressive library or other related experience is preferred
- Experience as a supervisor is preferred
Salary and Benefits
Salary is based on education and experience. For candidates with an undergraduate degree, the range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000, based on experience. For candidates with a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, the range is $50,000 - $55,000, based on experience.

About Brodhead Memorial Public Library
We are a community of 3,200 located 35 miles south of Madison, WI; 20 miles west of Janesville, WI; and 15 miles east of Monroe, WI. Our extended service population is approximately 6,200, serving patrons in both Green and Rock Counties. Currently, the library employs 10 staff with an FTE of approximately 4.5. The annual operating budget is approximately $300,000 and uses a combination of municipal and county tax support, donations, grants, and investments. We are a member of the South Central Library System, headquartered in Madison, WI.
The Monticello Public Library Seeks Full Time Director
The Monticello Public Library Board of Trustees seeks a dynamic, community minded Director with a vision for the future. The successful candidate must be able to enhance the library and its role as an integral component of the community. The Library Director plans, organizes, directs, and controls all functions, operations, and activities of the Library, either directly or through a qualified staff of 2.75FTE. This position is hired by and reports to a five member Library Board of Trustees. (WI Statutes 43.58 (4).
The Village of Monticello is located in Green County and is a convenient 30 miles south of Madison Wisconsin, with a population of approximately 1,200 (2020 census). Monticello is a rural community known for its local charm, beautiful parks, cheese factories, and direct access to both the Sugar River State Trail and the Badger State Trail. The Monticello Public Library is a member of the South Central Library System (winning the Super Awesome Library award from the foundation in 2019), and serves the communities of the Village of Monticello, Mt. Pleasant Township, and Washington Township. In 2021, the library received the Libraries Transforming Communities grant from the American Library Association. The library is in a newly decorated 2,994 square foot building.
Unique opportunity:
The incoming library director will have the unique opportunity to step into a position with transitional assistance provided by the previous director. The previous director received a promotional opportunity and has left our library with new comprehensive documentation of procedures, and a newly created five year strategic plan based on a community engagement process which outlines plans for meeting the needs of the community. The library currently has a highly trained staff including a youth services coordinator and liaison to the Monticello School District. The director will benefit from the support and direction of the Wisconsin Public Library Consortium, and a five member board of trustees.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
*Overall administration of the library
*Supervision, motivation and inspiration of staff
*Financial management, fundraising, grant writing and donor development
*Strategic planning, programming, marketing, and evaluation
*Outreach, collaboration, and partnership building with community groups
*Oversight of facility including improvements and potential building projects
*Advocate for the library before government and various groups and organizations
Qualifications:
Required :
- Hold or be eligible for the Wisconsin Public Library Director Grade 3 certificate.
- Includes 54 credit hours at an accredited college, university, or Technical college, half of which must be in the liberal arts and science; including or supplemented by 12 semester credits of coursework or the equivalent, approved by the division, in the following areas: Basic Public Library Administration; Advanced Public Library Administration; Organization and Management of Collections; Public and Community Services). Provisional and temporary certification may be granted under certain circumstances.

- Bachelor's College degree
- Library experience (or equivalent helpful)
- Management and supervisory experience or two years of progressively more responsible management experience

- Experience in collaborating with or building partnerships with organizations or small businesses
- Experience creating programming, marketing your ideas, or social media communications
Salary and benefits: Salary range is $20 - $22/hour, based on education and qualifications, plus a competitive benefit package which includes Wisconsin State Retirement System.

Welcome to Lizzie Gburek, new director at Lettie W. Jensen Library in Amherst. Lizzie is currently wrapping up her second semester of UW-Madison's Library and Information Studies distance-delivered Master's program. She loves traveling and exploring bookstores and libraries everywhere. Lizzie is excited to start a new chapter at the Lettie W. Jensen Library, which is a library that she frequented throughout her childhood.
Welcome to Darrell Fehd, new director of Wyocena Public Library. Darrell has worked part time for the Wyocena Public Library since September of 2017 and has been a member of the Friends of the Wyocena Public Library since 2016. Prior to retiring in March of 2016 from Rural Mutual Insurance Company in Madison, Darrell worked for 18 years in the IT department, assisting the agents with their computing needs in their offices as Team Lead for the Support Services department of IT. Darrell is looking forward to moving Wyocena’s great little library into the future.

DPI and the national non-profit, EducationSuperHighway, will share information and strategies for community outreach to help school districts and public libraries raise awareness of this new federal benefit.

During this webinar, EducationSuperHighway will share their new Affordable Connectivity Program Adoption Toolkit, which contains action plans, tools, and customizable resources to help you raise awareness of this critical program. They will also provide guidance and best practices for identifying and connecting eligible households who lack home connectivity.
Chris Baker, adult services librarian at Portage Public Library, and Amy Eppinger, instructional technology coordinator at Portage Community School District, will join us to share their experience with hosting a broadband benefit registration event.

2022 WPLC Collection Development Committee Recommendations
With input from the WPLC Board and Digital Library Steering Committee, the WPLC Collection
Development Committee began work on their annual recommendation process in October of
- Once accepted and approved by the Digital Library Steering Committee in Spring of 2022,
the recommendations will take effect through the end of 2023 as they include 2023 digital
buying pool budget recommendations.
The following areas of focus have been identified:
- Explore and research new content and formats to add to Wisconsin’s Digital Library.
- Assess and continue enhancing juvenile and young adult collections.
- Review and evaluate the deselection and collection maintenance process implemented in
2022.
- Increase buying pool amount by approximately 5% to fulfill the 5% increase for 5 years
recommendation made in 2020.
