SCLS Delivery has recently received comments from Wisconsin Libraries Delivery Network members regarding damage to interlibrary loan materials caused by tape used to attach routing labels.
As summarized by Kathy Wolkoff, Outerlibrary Loan Department of Madison Public Library:
We've been asked to remind everyone not to use tape (not even removable tape) on OLL items. This is specified in the ILL Code of the United States and the Wisconsin ILL Guidelines.
If you need to affix any routing labels or paperwork to the outside of an OLL item, we suggest taping the paper slip to one or more rubber bands rather than directly to the item itself.
Lending libraries are within their rights to bill you for any damage that results from the use of tape on their materials.
Please contact SCLS Delivery (delivery at sclsdelivery.info) if you have any questions about this notice.
