Eudora Tip: Weird Stuff in the "To:" field

If you use Eudora, you may have gone to write an email and seen some random-seeming stuff get automatically filled into your To: line. Sometimes it's hard to predict what will show up there!

If it really bugs you, you can help control this by editing your Address Book History List. The instructions for this at the Eudora help site leave something to be desired, so here's a little extra detail.

  1. Quit Eudora
  2. Open the Eudora directory (C:\Eudora)
  3. Look for the file History.lst
  4. Right click on History.lst and open it with Notepad (a text-editing program that's included on Windows machines)
  5. Edit the file
    1. Each address or nickname is on one line. Delete the ones you don't want Eudora to keep. Don't leave blank lines.
  6. Save your changes (File->Save or Ctrl+S) and close Notepad
  7. Start Eudora

Getting your SCLS mail on the road

Let's say you're away at a conference, and you want to check your SCLS email.
You don't have your computer, so you don't have Eudora handy.
But there are some computers with Internet access that you can use.

Go to http://www.mail2web.com

Put in your SCLS email address and password, and click "Check Mail"

You'll be able to see all of your mail, and delete anything you don't want.

Anything you leave, you'll be able to download to Eudora when you get back to your computer.

You can also send new messages and replies from mail2web, and they will appear to come from your SCLS account.

Pretty cool, eh?
