Communities can celebrate and explore the literature of Wisconsin
authors and illustrators through a grant from the Wisconsin Center for
the Book. The grant policies stipulate that organizations and groups
receive the award but funding goes directly to the author or
illustrator. The Wisconsin Center for the Book will award up to eight
grants of $300 each.
The Distribution to Underserved Communities Library Program (DUC) is a
nationwide effort that distributes brand-new books on contemporary art
to rural and inner-city libraries, public schools, and alternative
reading centers completely free of charge. These books are donated from
some of the foremost art museums and galleries across the country.
If you are a public institution in a rural, inner-city, or underserved
community, you are eligible to receive these free materials.
You may learn more about the program, browse the selection of titles, and place an order for books on their website at http://www.ducprogram.org.
Institutions are encouraged to place an order from the remaining
2008-09 catalogue stock. The DUC will be launching the 2009-10
catalogue of books in June--by placing an order now, your library will
be added to the email list and will receive an announcement once the
new books arrive (at which time you may place a new order).
All books are shipped completely free of charge!
If you have questions about the program or the ordering process, feel free to contact the DUC program at email@example.com or (212) 255-2919.
