Institute of Museum and Library Services: Connecting to Collections Bookshelf

This program seeks to provide small and medium-sized libraries and museums with essential resources needed to improve the condition of their collections. Instead of cash grants, the program offers sets of core texts to expand collections. For more information, go to American Association for State and Local History or Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Libraries Applying for Federal Cash Grants Need to Register

ALA reports that a new mandate requires libraries seeking funds from federal grant-making agencies to register and apply via Grants.gov.  ALA recommends that libraries who wish to apply for federally funded grants through ALA's Public Programs Office (PPO) register as soon as possible and apply through Grants.gov (http://www.grants.gov).  Applicants for federally funded grants without a cash component, such as the We the People Bookshelf, will not be required to apply via Grants.gov.

To assist libraries with the Grants.gov registration process, PPO has posted instructions, a checklist, technical requirements, FAQs, and at http://www.ala.org/ala/ppo/progresources/grantsgovinfo/grantsdotgov.htm
