Target Store Grant

Target is accepting applications for its Local Store Grants program.

Average grant award:  $1,000 to $3,000.

Deadline:  May 31, 2007.

Requirements:

  • Organization must be in a community that has a Target store.
  • Project can be in any of the following areas:
    • Arts:  for programs to bring arts to schools or make it affordable for families to participate in cultural experiences.
    • Early childhood reading: for programs that promote a love of reading and encourage children (birth-9) to read with their families.
    • Family violence prevention:  for programs that prevent or reduce family violence

Save Our History

The History Channel's "Save Our History" grant program encourages libraries and other organizations to partner with a local school or youth group and apply for funding to help preserve the history of their communities.

Proposed projects must:

  • Focus on exploring and preserving a significant aspect of community history.
  • Raise awareness among students and community members about the significance of their local heritage and the importance of preserving it.
  • Include a tangible resource that captures students' effort to learn about and preserve their local history in a unique, creative way.
  • must utilize the "Save Our History Educator's Manual" or other "Save Our History" education resources.

Grant award are up to $10,000.

Deadline:  June 1, 2007

The Big Read

The deadline is Thursday, April 12 to apply for Big Read Grants.  The purpose of The Big Read is to encourage literary reading and grants range from $5000 to $20,000.  For more information or to download the grant form, visit the Big Read web site:  www.neabigread.org
