April Continuing Ed programs - Part 1

April has turned out to be a really busy month for CE programs here at SCLS. So, I'll break it up into a couple different posts during this month.

First up is the CCBC annual program.  Librarians from the CCBC will present "Great New Books for Younger Children (Birth - Grade 5) on Thursday morning, April 8, from 9 to 10:15 a.m.  Register here!.  If you can't make it, that's okay as we'll be recording the session and posting it on the Past Program blog. CCBC programs are extremely popular - last year's Great New Books for Younger Children has been viewed an amazing 645 times!

Next up is the final College of DuPage program for the 2009/2010 season. "Technology Trends in Libraries: Tools, Skills, Staffing, and Training" is the is the title for Friday's (April 9) program. The program is streamed live to your desktop beginning at 11 a.m. and lasts for 90 minutes.  Register on the SCLS CE Calendar by Thursday, April 8 so I can send you the link to access the program. If you're not able to watch live, we'll be getting a DVD of the program a few weeks after the program. I'll post the information on the Past Program blog when it arrives.

Find out more about these and other upcoming SCLS CE programs at www.scls.info/calendar.

Targeting the Ages: Programming that hits the mark

Friday, February 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. delivered to your desktop from the College of                           DuPage.

Penny Mandziara and Kelly Watson, Presenters

Any library, whether it is school, public, academic, or special, is many things to the community it serves. A library offers the information patrons need to improve their quality of life. A library provides open access to technology and the world of online information, as well as guidance on navigating that world. A library also gives their community something that is less tangible, yet just as essential to improving their patrons’ lives: nourishment not just for the mind, but the spirit as well.
How do libraries do that? Through the programming opportunities they create.
In this program we will look at some of the innovative programming libraries today are creating to meet the evolving needs of their patrons. We will also provide a basic primer for anyone who has always wanted to plan a program, but didn’t know where or how to begin.
College of DuPage workshops are streamed live to your desktop. A few days before the program, the program link will be emailed to registered participants.
