It was brought to our attention yesterday (Jan. 30, 2012) that the SCLS memo for reporting LINKcat collection numbers was inconsistent with the DPI form. That is my fault, and I apologize for this oversight.
The issue at hand is how to handle reporting of Serial Volumes, which according to DPI instructions should be reported in #1 Books in Print. Last year it was labeled "Books and Serial Volumes in Print." The LINKcat memo directions are correct, but we used last year's Annual Report item name. The directions from DPI say to record "serial back files in print held at the end of the year" in item #1 Books in Print
Our recommendation to libraries is to use the instructions in the SCLS LINKcat memo to calculate your number of serial volumes held and add that number to #1 "Books in Print."
